6th Dan

Tim Shaw began his Karate training in 1974 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, spending four years under the auspices of his first instructor Dave Allsop Sensei.

This Dojo was affiliated to the UKKF (later UKKW) the organisation headed by Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei. Throughout his formative Kyu grades Tim trained frequently with K. Sakagami Sensei who conducted all Kyu gradings in the East Midland region. He also competed regularly in regional and national competitions.

Tim gained his 1st Dan in Swansea in 1978 in front of a grading panel chaired by Suzuki Sensei.

Also in 1978 he moved from Mansfield to Leeds, where he took over the running of the Dojo at the YMCA in the city centre. While in Leeds Tim passed his 2nd Dan in 1980.

In 1982 work took him to the south of England, where he was able to attend regular classes with Suzuki Sensei and Sugasawa Sensei.

3rd Dan gained in 1984.

In 1990 the Wado Ryu Karate-Do Academy was formed, and Tim had his first experience of training under the present Grandmaster of Wado Ryu, Hironori Ohtsuka II.

1991. 4th Dan with the Wado Ryu Karate-Do Academy.

1998. 5th Dan with the Wado Ryu Karate-Do Academy.

2008. 6th Dan with Shikukai Karate International.
